The Mongiorgio Castle complex dates back to 993 AD and is located on the hills of Monte San Pietro. It consists of two churches, a tower, the castle itself, a bell tower, and a drawbridge. Over the centuries, the buildings have undergone modifications and expansions, as evidenced by the Renaissance stucco work still visible in one of the churches.
The entire complex is suffering from the passage of time: despite this, all buildings are protected by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, and guided tours and musical events are organized to raise funds for the permanent restoration of this medieval complex.
